Educational Service Unit Madison participates in Educational Service Unit No. 8. Life Long Learning Center The Lifelong Learning Center at Northeast Community College serves the business and professional community through a variety of uses. The Center includes two distance learning classrooms, a computer center for software training and three standard classrooms. The conference center can be divided into six rooms and accommodate up to 700 persons. Full technology and food services are available to make the center a highly desirable location for meetings, training activities, and conferences. The Lifelong Learning Center serves as a clearinghouse for education offerings from Wayne State College, the University of Nebraska, and other public and private institutions. College - Norfolk Library The Madison Public Library, 204 W. 3rd Street, contains approximately 18,000 volumes and has an average annual circulation of 24,000. Library activities include children's story hour, summer reading program, and a fall story hour for preschoolers. Friends of the Library meets bimonthly. Public Internet access is available at the library. Phone: (402) 454-3500. Madison County Museum The Madison County Historical Society Museum is located at 210 West 3rd Street in Madison, Nebraska. Founded in 1928, the Society is dedicated to preserving the history of Madison County. Some of the attractions are the Richie Ashburn display, the Communications Display by the Telephone Pioneers of America, an 1880 Fire Pumper, and a working replica of a railroad town in the 1950s. The museum is open week days from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and also any other time by special appointment.
